Stump Grinding
Tree stumps can leave your property looking unfinished, uneven, and harder to maintain. They can also create tripping hazards, interfere with mowing, and get in the way of future landscaping or construction plans. Our stump grinding service is designed to remove those obstacles and leave your property looking cleaner and more usable.
Stump grinding is an ideal solution after tree removal, storm damage, or long-overdue property cleanup. Instead of leaving stumps behind to decay slowly over time, we grind them below grade so the space can be leveled and put back to use. This creates a smoother surface and improves the overall appearance of the land.
Whether you have one stump in the yard or several spread across a larger property, we can handle the job efficiently. We use the right equipment to complete the work with precision and as little disruption as possible. Our goal is always to provide clean, professional results that make your property easier to maintain.
Once the stump is removed, the space becomes much more practical and visually appealing. You can replant, landscape, build, or simply enjoy a cleaner yard without having to work around old stumps. It is a simple service that can make a lasting improvement to the look and function of your property.

Pricing is calculated by stump diameter, measured at ground level (in inches).
Stump Diameter — The Fair & Simple Method
We measure the stump at ground level before grinding begins. The wider the stump, the more time, equipment wear, and effort involved. This per-inch model means you only pay for what we actually grind — no surprises, no inflated quotes.
Standard vs. XL Stumps
Standard stumps are up to approximately 24 inches in diameter. XL stumps (24"+ diameter) require extended machine time and additional passes, so a slightly higher per-inch rate applies.
Hardwood vs. Softwood — Why It Matters
Hardwood trees (oak, hickory, sweet gum, magnolia) have dense, tough root systems that increase grinding time and blade wear. Softwood trees (pine, cedar, poplar, Bradford pear) grind faster and easier, reflected in our lower softwood rate.
Hardwood Stump Grinding Pricing
Oak · Hickory · Sweet Gum · Magnolia · Tallow Tree & other dense hardwoods
| Stump Size | Rate (Per Inch) | Example: 18" Stump | Example: 30" Stump |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard (up to 24") | $7.00 / inch | $126 | — |
| XL (over 24") | $9.00 / inch | — | $270 |
Minimum charge: $200.00 / job (applies when per-inch total falls below minimum)
Common hardwoods in the Lowcountry include live oak, water oak, sweet gum, magnolia, hickory, and Chinese tallow. Unsure of your tree species? We assess on-site at no charge.
Softwood Stump Grinding Pricing
Pine · Cedar · Poplar · Bradford Pear · Cypress & other softwoods
| Stump Size | Rate (Per Inch) | Example: 18" Stump | Example: 30" Stump |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard (up to 24") | $5.00 / inch | $90 | — |
| XL (over 24") | $6.00 / inch | — | $180 |
Minimum charge: $200.00 / job (applies when per-inch total falls below minimum)
Loblolly pine, longleaf pine, bald cypress, and cedar are the most common softwoods throughout our service area. Softwood stumps often feature extensive shallow root systems — we grind to 6–8 inches below grade as standard practice.
